In 2008 our family went on safari in southern Africa. We went to the Mala Mala Game Reserve, South Africa; Mashatu Game Reserve, Botswana; Moremi Game Reserve (Okavango Delta); Chobe River, Botswana and Livingstone (Victoria Falls), Zambia.
Make sure to check out my complete Africa galleries.
My buddy Brandon let me accompany him up to the tops of towers three and five on a troubleshooting mission. Brandon is the engineer in charge of the lighting controls for the Bay Lights light sculpture, which is comprised of 21,000 LED lights on the west side of the bridge facing the city.
Fear quickly gave way to exhilaration as we made the trip up the cables and took in views that few people will ever get to see. What a great experience and photo op!
These are a few of my favorites from our recent road trip to Yellowstone NP and the Grand Tetons. You can see my other Yellowstone galleries at http://erader.zenfolio.com/f329102392. Thanks for looking!
On August 27th I had the opportunity to climb to the top of the new eastern span tower and to take a few photographs there and from the deck. Brandon and I were the only ones on the bridge except for a CHP officer parked nearby. The next night the old eastern span which was damaged during the 1987 Loma Prieta earthquake would be closed forever and the new span would take its place after Labor Day.
I was fortunate to be able to spend nearly a week in Yellowstone during the last week of September. My wife and I did a road trip to Yellowstone earlier in the year and we were amazed that it had taken us so long to see this great national park as well as the Grand Tetons.
I knew I had to come back in the fall.
Yellowstone boasts over 300 miles of paved roads and in the two road trips I logged 2000 miles in the park. I even drove some unpaved roads. The landscape is diverse and fascinating and even in June we experienced all four seasons in a day.
Except for the Grand Prismatic Crater you're not going to see the usual attractions -- e.g. Old faithful -- in this album. My interest is in wildlife and landscape.
All of the pictures from this trip can be seen here http://erader.zenfolio.com/p597366769. It's a work in progress that I am still adding to.
